Mic Sokoli came from a family of patriots and led large military units of the Albanian League of Prizren (1878-1881) in several key battles. Renowned for his strategic mind, readiness, and bravery, he actively fought in Shkup (Skopje), Prizren, Ferizaj, Gjilan, and Gjakova against Mehmet Ali Pasha, and stood out in the battle of Nokshiq against Montenegrin aggressors. His participation extended to Plava, Gucia, Hot, Gruda, Tuz, and later, in the plains of Kosova, where he fought in the decisive battles of Shtime, Carraleva, and ultimately Slivova, where he fell heroically.

During the battle of Slivova, near Shtime (April 1881), he made an extraordinary act of bravery, placing his chest against the Ottoman cannon, and fell on the battlefield, inspiring his comrades to continue the fight with courage and determination.

At the age of 42, Mic Sokoli heroically gave his life, leaving behind his wife and two children, a son and a daughter. More than a century later, his grandson picked up where Mic had left off, continuing the fight for national unity. Inherited from Mic’s bloodline were his courage and military prowess. Mic Sokoli’s grandson, Tahir Sinani, also fell as a martyr for the cause of unification.

Many events and figures of the Albanian League of Prizren are remembered through historical epics, but none more so than Mic Sokoli, the leader of Krasniqa and son of Sokol Rama from Bujan, Tropoja. The extraordinary heroism of Mic Sokoli has lived on as legend, with songs about his bravery echoing through the years, still resonating today.
