2023 Census in Montenegro: 130 Montenegrin Citizens Reside in Albania

Data published yesterday by Montenegro’s statistics office shows that only 130 Montenegrins reported in the 2023 census that they work, live, or study in Albania.

According to the census, 32 of them are originally from Tuzi, and 53 from Ulcinj.

The 2023 census in Montenegro revealed a total population of 623,633. Of this, 41.12% identified as Montenegrins, 32.9% as Serbs, and only 4.97% as Albanians.

Among those who left Montenegro for work, study, or residence in 2023, about 4,938 were Montenegrin Albanians.

The largest number of Montenegrin emigrants moved to Germany, where around 10,400 Montenegrins now reside.

Almost half of those who left (21,449) cited economic reasons, while 10,735 left for family reasons, and 8,230 for education.
