25 years since the massacre of Reçak, the crime against humanity that shocked the world

Today (January 15) marks 25 years since the Serbian forces carried out the Reçak massacre in the village of Reçak, about 30 kilometers from Prishtina.45 Albanian civilians were killed on January 15, 1999. The massacre was perpetrated by Serbian security forces in response to Albanian separatist activity in the region.The Serbian government refused to let a war crimes prosecutor visit the site and maintained that the casualties were all members of the rebel Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) killed in combat with state security forces.
The heads of Kosovo’s institutions, President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti paid tribute in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Reçak massacre. President Vjosa Osmani has demanded justice for those killed in this macabre crime against innocent civilians.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the massacre of Reçak shocked international opinion and led to the intervention of NATO.
The terrible scenes of 1999 were echoed in the international media, which influenced the mobilization of public opinion. Thus, thanks to the publication of this massacre and the intervention of decision-making centers in international relations, the genocide of Serbia ended once and for all.
For this end of serious crimes committed by Serbia for the killing of 45 innocent Albanians in this village, the Assembly of Kosovo announced January 15 as the Remembrance Day, observed in memorial of all genocide Kosovo Albanian victims.
