Today marks the birthday of the esteemed Albanian artist Ferdinand Deda, born in the small town of Peqin on February 5, 1941. He pursued his education at the “Jordan Misja” Artistic High School in Tirana, completing his studies in 1959.

Following high school, Deda assumed the role of a music teacher in Gjirokastra. Subsequently, he enrolled at the National Conservatory of Prague in former Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic). However, due to strained relations with the Soviet Union, he shifted to the conducting department of the “Academy of Fine Arts.”

In the years 1991-1992, Deda specialized in conducting and composition in Italy. From graduation until his retirement, he conducted over 300 notable concerts, showcasing his skills as both a conductor and a composer.

Ferdinand Deda conducted significant concerts nationally and internationally, earning praise and accolades, including awards and medals from various festivals and performances. He was recognized by the Albanian audience as a key composer for the “Festival of Song” in RTSH, the seasonal songs festival “When Spring Comes,” with his compositions enduring through performances by singers and music enthusiasts.

Additionally, he founded the “Spring Festival” in RTSH and made substantial contributions to Albanian cinematography as a composer for numerous soundtracks. In 1997, Deda was honored with the “Golden Disc,” and he held titles such as “Distinguished Artist” and “Master of Arts.”

Ferdinand Deda, the acclaimed artist, passed away on August 22, 2003.
