Tourist visits to Gjirokastra Castle for this tourist season have been increasing.

According to data from Gjirokastra Regional Directory for Cultural Heritage, there were 137,556 thousand visitors during the period January-December 2022 or 82,144 more visitors than during the same period in 2021.

The number of visitors to Antigone has also increased. Tourist visits to Antigone Archaeological Park for this tourist season have reached 1774 thousand visitors during the period January-December 2022 or 1182 visitors more than during the same period in 2021.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti, announced that along with the increase in the number of visitors to cultural heritage objects such as castles, parks, museums and monuments, the income from the sale of tickets has also increased.

“It is a noticeable increase, compared to 2021. More income means more care for cultural heritage,” Margariti wrote on social networks.

The income from cultural heritage objects in 2022 reached 239,002,490 ALL, while the year before the income was about 146 million ALL.
