An exhibition of ancient liturgical vestments opens for the first time in the Shkodra museum

A pavilion with ancient liturgical vestments opens for the first time in the museum of the diocese of Shkodra. The peculiarity lies in the fact that these clothes were seized by the communist system, but they were carefully collected during the years of democracy and are now on display for the public.
Ancient liturgical vestments, which were confiscated during communism, have reappeared for the public.

For the organizers of this event in the cathedral of Shkodra, this is a big job that makes the “Lin Delija” art gallery complete.
All works aim to evangelize through culture, says Father Luigi, who is the curator of this exhibition in Shkodër. Among other things, he emphasizes that in the works of Lin Delia we see precisely the difficulties that the Albanian people have gone through.

“All the works that the Catholic Church presents have only one goal to evangelize through culture. The value of these clothes lies in their finding and preservation during the communist regime, when religion was forbidden.”

Liturgical clothes have a special characterization for the history of the Albanian people, in a country where religion was condemned by law for 50 years, while these clothes remind the connection that Albanians never lost with faith in God.
