Rama: Albanian Xhubleta is declared a world cultural heritage by UNESCO

After Isopolyphony, Jublet is our next intangible heritage to be protected by UNESCO. The invention of jubilant clothing, which dates back 4 thousand years, is now the property of all mankind.
Prime Minister Edi Rama congratulated this morning with the news of the announcement of the Albanian Jubleta as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO in conjunction with the 110th anniversary of Independence.
The Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti, participated yesterday in the meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection and Preservation of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, which took place in Morocco.
The minister pointed out that, “this asset for the country could be lost. But we didn’t allow Jubleta to remain simply a relic of the past, and with its inclusion in this list, it will have the support not only of our institutions but also of international ones, which will treat Jubleta as an asset to all humanity”.
Jubleta, typical clothing of the northern areas, is regarded as one of the rarest popular costumes, with several types and characteristics, cutting and sewing, according to the areas and ages of the women who wore it.
