Three icons of Diço Zografi are being restored by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage

Specialists of the Department of Works of Art at the National Institute of Cultural Heritage continue the work on the restoration of the icons of  the Medieval Art Pavilion at the National Historical Museum.

Conservation and restoration interventions are focused on three icons made in 1855. The icons bear the authorship of Diço Zografi.

This is the first time that the works of this iconographic artist, well known in the Balkan area, during the century XIX, are the focus of restoration interventions carried out in this laboratory.

In the icons of Saint Kolli, Saint Haralambi and Saint Athanas, the processes of documenting the problems, disinfection, consolidation and cleaning surveys have been completed, and the cleaning process and other conservation-restoration interventions are continuing.
