The opening ceremony of the “Days of Mio” 2022, International Painting Colony was held at the House Museum of the painter Vangjush Mio.

Artists from Italy, Greece, Kosovo, Turkey, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Poland as well as artists from Korça will be part of the colony this year, casting the magic of autumn in Korça and its surroundings on their canvases.

As every year, one of their works realized during the days of the colony will be donated to the “Guri Madhi” Art Gallery, in Korça.

The “Days of Mio” colony will continue until October 28. This activity has already become a tradition. Since 2007, this gathering of artists from different countries takes place every end of October in Korça, in honor of the People’s Painter, Vangjush Mio, whose name the Cultural Center of Korça also bears. On the last day of the Colony, there will be an exhibition with the works of all the participating painters.

Vangjush Mio is known as the first impressionist in Albania. His landscapes, inspired by Korça and Pogradeci, have been highly appreciated by critics. At the same time, he has been a brilliant painter in the realization of portraits as well as in scenography for the theater of Korça.
