‘Actus for Vjosa’ by Gentian Doda, the artist: In this work, not only the cause of the river, but also of contemporary art

On October 24 and 25, choreographer Gentian Doda brings the ballet ‘Actus for Vjosa’ to the “Opera” stage. Inspired by Bach’s sonata, the artist pays tribute to the beauty of the river “Vjosa” and its protection”Actus for Vjosa”, the beauty of one of the last wild rivers in Europe.”The river, life, man have movement and between them they have a completely direct relationship. We have done several collaborations with the composer Çezar Aliaj , and as Albanians we have a very rich musical culture, also regarding this movement concept, and we have it as a starting point that gives us a kind of authenticity”, says the artist further, says choreographer Gentian Doda.

And if “Actus” is the action, the tragic part that will be conveyed on stage through the sensations of body language, belongs to the danger that threatens the river “Vjosa” as long as it has not been declared a National Park, despite a signed commitment agreement. In Vjosa, the construction of 38 HPPs was planned.

In recent years, actors from different fields have joined in the protection of the “Vjosa” river. After music artists, the voice of activists and even Hollywood star Leonardo Di Caprio, it is expected that Doda’s creation, inspired in Albania, will speak throughout the world, with a language, as the artist says, universal.
