Restoration work of the murals continues in Holy Trinity Church in Berat, an intervention by Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage restorers of art works.
According to Berat Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage, the intervention process will continue until the mural will look fully integrated.
The Holy Trinity Church in Berat has a cross form plan with a dome, where many features of Byzantine architecture have been skillfully used, thus making this monument one of the most interesting and picturesque one inside castle.
An inscription on one of the church murals contains the name of the governor of Province of Berat during 1302-1326. This element tells that the church may have been built at the beginning of the 14th century with the financial support of this governor.
The iconographic displays inside the church are of Paleologian School influence of the XIII-VIV centuries. The Byzantine architectural elements have been combined with western architectural ones belonging to the same period, with the main characteristic being the bold colors and the division of the scenes into frames separated by a red ribbon.
