On the National Day of Cultural Heritage, an exhibition of paintings “Vlora in the eyes of Eduard Lear” was opened

On the National Cultural Heritage Day, the Ethnographic and Historical Museums in Vlora have opened three parallel exhibitions.  The exhibition “Vlora in the eyes of Eduard Lear”, where the works of the British artist that have been preserved for years in the historical museum fund are exhibited. In all the museums and monuments of culture this Thursday, the entrance was free.

The Director of Culture in the Municipality of Vlora, Skënder Spahiu says that the exhibition shows the life of Albanians in the eyes of the British artist, during the visit he made to Vlora.
“In the framework of the day of cultural heritage, the museums of the city of Vlora opened several exhibitions which talk about the progress and style of folk traditional clothing, those elements of the mainly ceremonial tradition, the use of silk or earlier filigree as decorative elements of embroidery,  influenced by religious belief, but also by the cultures of our neighboring countries. We have also opened an exhibition with drawings that Eduar Lear made during his visit to Vlora. This is an exhibition that was opened earlier.

How were the Albanians in the eyes of Eduart Lear during his trip to the territory of Vlora and beyond in Albania. These elements are mainly exhibited in the lobby of the ethnographic museum and we hope they will be visited. Through these, we witness progress and transmit these traditions to generations. They are values that we must be preserved through generations”, said Spahiu.
