Azem Kuçana exhibits the “Epos of Kreshniks”; Ancient motifs return to works of art

The well-known Kosovar painter Azem Kuçana opened an exhibition at the National Museum with the theme of “The Epos of the Kreshniks”. There are about 20 works that will then travel to New York, joining 60 others with motifs of ballads and Albanian epic characters.
According to the director of the museum Dorian Koçi, the figures demonstrated by the painter have a special value in the history of Albanian art.
“Tradition is an important part. It is an important vector of our cultural heritage that shows our roots, our cultural and spiritual connections with the Mediterranean world, with the European world”.
The curator of the exhibition Suzana Varvarica appreciates the creativity of Kuçana for the miracle of a dizzying life of the mountaineers of ballads and the “Epos of the Kreshniks”in the past.
“Because the figurativeness of Azem Kuçana is related to the “Epos”, it is related to visible figures of dances or songs of our wonderful lute,” said the curator of this exhibition, art researcher Suzana Varvarica Kuka.
Another exhibition will be opened in the United States of America.
“I am very glad that Azem Kuçana will go with these paintings to New York. But there are others that have already crossed the border of the United States of America and are part of this exhibition. And this is the second part of his creativity, which will be part of the big exhibition with 80 works in New York” said the curator Suzana Vavarica.
Azem Kuçana’s exhibition will remain open until October 2 in the hall and main entrance of the National Historical Museum.
