Elbasan welcomed the second edition of the “City with Castle” festival in the historic city’s fortress. The songs, folklore, dances and historical culture of the stone city of Gjirokastra performed at the Elbasan fortress, creating a festive atmosphere for the public and the guests of the evening.
The dances, folklore, polyphony and ethnographic culture of Gjirokastra intermingled with that of Elbasan brought the second edition of the “City with Castle” festival to Elbasan.

The best values ​​of the cultural tradition of the two historical cities were brought together in the second edition, where the interpretation of the folklore group “Argjiro” from Gjirokastra, the sazes of “Dervicani” and Kelcyra were not missing.

 “Gjirokastra has one of the largest castles in Europe, while Elbasan has a field castle and we have tried to combine the best values ​​of Elbasan, which has great values ​​in the educational and cultural fields, with the values ​​of Gjirokastra. Today we have tried to bring two exhibitions, a photographic exhibition with the gates of Gjirokastra, one of the main symbols of the city itself, showing all the greatness and wealth of the city”, said Art Manager Sefan Arseni.

The exhibition with the most beautiful paintings and landscapes from the gates of the stone city of Gjirokastra was visited by participants before the concert organized by the “Isuf Myzyri” ensemble of Elbasan.

“Cities with Castles” came this summer season in its second edition, while it is expected that other cities will join this project in the coming years.
