The first book in the Albanian language, “The Mess of Gjon Buzukut”, began to be written 468 years ago, on March 20, 1554 and ended on January 5, 1555.

On the occasion of this anniversary, the National Historical Museum brought an excerpt from this work in the original dialect.

The book consisted of 110 pages but the copy of the book that has arrived is truncated and lacks the first 16 pages and among them the cover with the main page.

Buzuku was a Catholic priest, parish priest of a church in Northern Albania, not far from the place of publication and one of the most important speakers of the Albanian language. With his work he consolidated an important tradition of writing the Albanian language with the Latin alphabet.
