Dua Lipa opens up Wall Street Journal about Kosovo, the lost lives and its experience in the homeland

Albanian singer Dua Lipa is an Albanian successful singer, songwriter and model living in England. In a recent interview with the popular Wall Street Journal, Dua spoke about Kosovo, the lost lives and its experience in the homeland.
“I have read many comments from people who tell me that I have no state, no identity, Kosovo does not exist. I lived in Kosovo, I know the lost lives. So for someone to deny me my identity and experience, it’s hard for me to stand back and not talk about it. So this is something I will always do.”
In the continuation of the interview for “Wall Street Journal”, Dua reflected on her family life. Before she was born, her family lived in Kosovo. However, due to the war in Bosnia, they fled to London in 1992. Lipa returned to Kosovo with her family when she was 11 years old, but she ended up returning to London at the age of 15 to pursue her music career. Throughout her life, Lipa has still maintained a connection to her Kosovo heritage.
Last year the pop star had one of the most-streamed songs on the planet. Now she’s launching a podcast and newsletter—and, at long last, going on tour for ‘Future Nostalgia.Lipa has retained a strong connection to her Kosovar heritage, organizing a festival (which has featured such artists as Miley Cyrus and Calvin Harris) to raise money for local charities. The effort was recognized with a key to the capital city of Pristina. “It’s such a big part of who I am,” she says. “Given my parents and how they came to the U.K., the refugee situation has always been something that’s really close to my heart” said Lipa.
