The most famous Albanian tenor Saimiri Pirgu will bring Naim Frashëri to the Viennese Christmas. In the midst of a stifling atmosphere created by this year’s pandemic, as well as after the traumatic events in Austria, where unfortunately Albanian compatriots were involved, Pirgu has thought to sing “The words of the candle” by Naim Frashëri, in one of the two arias that will be performed at the concert “Christmas in Vienna”. After performing Beethoven’s 9th symphony this year in the Austrian capital almost completely locked down by the pandemic, Pirgu returns to another prestigious format at the center of world classical music.

Saimir Pirgu himself announced the event in advance on social networks with the post: Soon “Christmas in Vienna” Concert of the year on Austrian TV ORF and also on Arte tv. On 21-24 December ORF2 at 22.30 24 December at 18.15 on ARTE TV. 

“For the Vienna concert, the program and the arias that I have chosen have been a little selected, to give a message also in Vienna and for our Albanian public. I have chosen two arias, one with the text of our poet, our renaissance, Naim Frashëri, “Words of the Candle”, that for the situation we are in, it would be very good for this candlelight to illuminate at least anyone who has a foggy brain this period . Also the melody of Ennio Morricone that passed away this year and this in his memory, I thought “Nella Fantasia”, is the best a to remember the great master. “As much as I could, I created the opportunity to sing in Albanian, an Albanian aria on Austrian television,” Pirgu said.
