UK installs cameras worth £1.6 million at Albania-Kosovo border to reduce illegal immigration

A sophisticated camera group, funded by the United Kingdom with £1.6 million, has been deployed on the Albania-Kosovo border to combat illegal immigration and criminal gangs. These devices include a fleet of drones and cameras for license plate identification, aiding the Albanian system in identifying British vehicles used by criminals.
The new drones will help authorities detect migrants attempting to pass through difficult-to-reach areas. Minister Against Illegal Immigration, Michael Tomlinson, visited Albania to see the effectiveness of these measures and promote projects to reduce illegal immigration by offering education and employment opportunities for Albanian youth.
He also discussed with Albanian authorities how to address the challenges of illegal immigration at a ministerial conference in Tirana. Meanwhile, interceptions have increased on flights from Rwanda to prevent unprotected migrants from risky Channel crossings. The government expects a decline in the number of immigrants arriving in the UK by 300,000 next year.
