Education agreement between Albania and Kosovo enters into force, scholarships and 1 thousand euros for students

A cooperation agreement between the Albanian and Kosovo governments in higher education and scientific research has come into effect. The agreement aims to encourage and support collaboration in education and science, facilitating continuous exchange of information about educational and research institutions in Albania and Kosovo.
Furthermore, the agreement emphasizes the encouragement and support for direct links between relevant structures at the ministerial level, universities, and other higher education and research institutions.
Key points of the agreement include promoting participation of educators, experts, and researchers in international seminars, symposiums, and conferences, as well as active support for their institutions within European Union, Council of Europe, and UNESCO educational programs.
Both governments commit to offering scholarships to students according to their respective legislation, to the amount of €1000 per academic year for each beneficiary.
The distribution of scholarships will adhere to each country’s legislation, with a maximum of 30 scholarships offered annually by each party. Ad-hoc groups will be established to review criteria and procedures for allocating scholarships. Additionally, expert exchanges in accreditation of higher education, as well as mutual recognition of certificates, diplomas, and academic titles, are highlighted.
To implement the agreement, working groups for higher education and scientific research will be established, alternating meetings between Albania and Kosovo. These groups, comprising 3-5 members, will conduct visits to each other’s countries for experience exchange, according to agreed-upon activity and budgetary forecasts.
