The epopee the KLA, Osmani: Gratitude to the Jasharis. Kurti: Our freedom is named Adem

Today, Kosova started to remember the days of March 5, 6 and 7, 1998, the time of 26 years ago, when the hero Adem Jashari and his family faced the Serbian soldiers who had surrounded them until they were sacrificed. Over 50 of them were killed or murdered in three days, among them commander Jashari with 22 members of his immediate family, including women and children.
The highest heads of state, during a solemn session in the Assembly of Kosova, referred to the epic of Jashari family for freedom.
The session in honor of the anniversary of the KLA Epic started with the song “March comes again” by the artist Ilir Shaqiri, to leave more room for speeches of the attendees.
President Vjosa Osmani said that the heroism of the Jashari family symbolizes Kosova itself.
“They led the battle for freedom, so we owe him [Adem] and every liberator, eternal gratitude. We will honor their memory. Our path has been full of challenges and we have emerged victorious. The KLA epic determined our destiny. The deed of Adem Jashari and his entire family is a testament. He is our eternal hero. He was more than a commander, a visionary who knew no borders,” said the Kosovan head of state.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti compared the resistance of the Jasharis to the fight for the protection of the Albanian territories during the Albanian League of Prizren (1878).
“Freedom was the condition of life and it became the condition of Adem Jashari’s death. So if history is the progress of people’s freedom awareness, then Adem Jashari is the proper name of the man by which we can refer to our freedom. Glory to Adem Jashari, the Jashari family, the KLA and all the martyrs of the nation,” Prime Minister Kurti concluded his address to the Assembly, on the occasion.
