During last night, the Albanian ship Butrinti, part of the mission “Sea Guardian” in the Aegean Sea, carried out successfully three Search and Rescue operations.

Three rafts with 37 illegal immigrants have been saved from danger, in an attempt to cross Greek waters, while fortunately all the people are in good health.

The news was spread by the Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, who also shared a video from this operation.

“Illegal crossing in the Aegean Sea is a big challenge, not only for the NATO Alliance, but also for the transit countries that have to cope with a continuous flow of illegal immigrants,” noted Peleshi, while underscoring that only through cooperation, this challenge can be adressed and the life and safety of all those who are involved in such situations can be guaranted”.
