Distria Krasniqi triumphs in Jerusalem, grabs the fourth gold medal

Kosovar judoka Distria Krasniqi won the gold medal at the “World Judo Masters”. This was her fourth gold medal. The Judo Federation in Kosovo announced that Krasniqi has defeated the British Chelsie Giles in the final, in the category up to 52 kilograms, gaining 1800 Olympic points in the world ranking.

The 27-year-old passed the first round without a fight, as she then defeated the Spaniard, Ana Perez Box. In the semi-finals, she won against Reka Pupp from Hungary. The Kosovar judoka has won several medals this year, including three gold medals, one at the Grand Prix of Portugal, one at the Grand Slam of Tbilisi and one at the Mediterranean Games in Oran.

Currently, Krasniqi is seventh in the world ranking of judo, but is expected to advance several positions, after the success in Kuds. The Kosovar team is participating with four athletes in the big Masters competition, with Krasniqi, Nora Gjakova, Laura Fazliu and Loriana Kukaj. Nora Gjakova claims to win the bronze medal.

58 countries and 367 contestants participate in this prestigious competition.
