Kakavija border crossing point, Albania and Greece work to ease border crossing

Albania and Greece will increase cooperation for the smooth flow of travelers during the tourist season and in the longer term too, on the fight against crimes at the border crossing points on both sides.

The Border Police general directors of the two countries met on Tuesday (8 August) at the Joint Operational Center of Kakavija.

Senior Director, Saimir Boshnjaku and Major General, Dimitrios Mallios agreed to intensify measures taken to increase the number of counters on both sides.

“In respect to the bilateral cooperation, we say that the situation is normal, despite the increasing flow of citizens day by day. We took these measures and I believe that we will be very efficient to manage the travelling flow,” declared Boshnjaku after the meeting with his Greek counterpart.

The cooperation with Greece remains continuous, while the parties also seek the understanding of the citizens in every situation.

“When there are queues, which at the moment are acceptable and at normal levels, we believe that with the measures that will be taken on both sides of the border, the situation will remain in normal conditions. We also thank the Greek side for the readiness shown in the cooperation with the Albanian side. We believe that this will be a very good achievement for this tourist season,” added the Senior Director of Albanian Border Police, Saimir Boshnjaku.
