The situation in Kosovo, Stoltenberg talks with Kurti and Vucic: I asked them to refrain! NATO, alert

The Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, has discussed with the Prime Minister of Kosova, Albin Kurti and the President of Serbia, Aleksander Vucic, regarding the tense situation created in the north of Kosovo, after the mass resignations of Serbian officials from the institutions and the exit from the Assembly of 11 deputies of the Serbian List.

In a post on Twitter, Stoltenberg writes that he has asked both leaders to refrain from any unilateral action that could cause an escalation of the situation. He also adds that the only way to resolve this conflict is dialogue, as he emphasizes that NATO remains vigilant.

“I spoke with Aleksandër Vucic and Albin Kurti about the tense situation in the north of Kosovo. I asked both of them to refrain from any unilateral action that could cause escalation. Dialogue is the only way forward. NATO remains vigilant,” writes Stoltenberg.

On November 5, the largest party of Kosova Serbs left all Kosova institutions. This decision came after the Kosovo authorities fired the director of the Kosovo Police for the northern region, after he refused to implement the government’s decision on license plates.

The United States of America and the European Union have called on Kosova and Serbia to choose the path of negotiations for the resolution of disputes and to refrain from actions that would lead to the escalation of the situation.
