Majko: Proud of my fellow brothers

Former presidents of Republic of Albania, Rexhep Mejdani, Alfred Moisiu, Bamir Topi, together with former Prime Minister, Pandeli Majko paid a visit in The Hague to former KLA (Kosova Liberation Army) leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi to give them support in facing the trial.

Former Prime Minister Majko in a social media post expresses his pride to be on their side for the last battle to protect the name of KLA.

Thaçi and three other KLA leaders who became top politicians later – Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi – are facing charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed during 1998-1999 against ethnic minorities and political opponents.

Under pressure by the international community, Kosovo parliament set up a special court in 2016 to try crimes committed during the war after Dick Marty’s, a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, published a report with such allegations.

The KLA’s resistance followed by a NATO bombing operation mainly targeting Serbian military facilities led to Serbian troops withdrawing from the country after numerous massacres, thousands of civilians killed and 90 percent of Kosova population displaced.
