Electronic data exchange for maritime transport, Albania-Italy-Montenegro sign memorandum of understanding

General Director of the Customs of Albania, Gent Gazheli, Director of the Revenue and Customs Administration of Montenegro and Mr. Marcello Minenna, Director of the Italian Customs, Excise and Monopolies Agency, signed today Memorandums of Understanding for the electronic exchange of data between these institutions in Rome.
They discussed about the future development of the Blue Lanes initiative and commercial relations in the Adriatic Sea area. The Blue Lanes initiative will improve maritime traffic between Albania, Montenegro and Italy, thanks to the SEED+ system, the System for Electronic Data Exchange, which is operational in CEFTA (Agreement of Central European Free Trade). This is an important historical moment for the CEFTA parties since this cooperation will serve not only Albania and Montenegro, but also other CEFTA Parties that will use the ports in Albania and Montenegro.
The memorandums signed between Albania, Montenegro and Italy fully take into account the importance of customs duties and other applicable taxes during the trade of goods, recognize the need for cross-border cooperation and take into account the objectives of the Joint Regional Market Action Plan. The establishment of CEFTA-TCT Green Lanes within the Western Balkans during COVID-19 proved to be one of the most successful examples of regional cooperation.
