Kosovo and Albania sign agreement on common energy market

The Energy Regulatory Office in Kosovo signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Energy Regulatory Authority of Albania for the mutual recognition of the licences for the electric energy supply and trade. This step was assessed as important for the integration of electric energy market between Kosovo and Albania. Chairman of  Electric Energy Regulatory Board in Kosovo,Ymer Fejzullahu said that the signed agreement serves the electric energy market regulation between the two countries. 

“In order to integrate the two markets, today we sign a memorandum for the recognition of mutual licenses. A common market will pave the way for new investments in the energy sector”, he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Board of ERE, Petrit Ahmeti, has expressed his conviction that this agreement signed today will be immediately applicable in both countries.
“These documents, which make the first steps of a cooperation, is a crowning of a fruitful cooperation between the two countries. I have full confidence that it will work,” he said.
This agreement was assessed of extremely important even by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Energy of Albania, Ilir Bejtja and the Minister of Economy of Kosovo, Artane Rizvanolli.
