Speaker Nikolla receives the newly appointed ambassador of Serbia in Albania

The Speaker of the Assembly, Lindita Nikolla, received the new Ambassador of Serbia, Slobodan Vukčević. Ambassador Vukčević congratulated Nikolla on her election as Speaker of the Assembly and expressed the will of the Serbian Parliament and Government to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Albania, as well as cooperation for the European perspective of the region.

Nikolla noted that “in recent years, relations between Albania and Serbia have been enriched with new developments, thanks to our commitment to serve the strengthening of bilateral and regional cooperation, as well as strengthening synergies for the Europeanization of the region.”

“Albania supports the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue mediated by the EU. We consider the role of our strategic partner, the United States, very important in this dialogue, and we appreciate the efforts of the EU and US Special Envoys for Dialogue and the Western Balkans, Miroslav Lajčák and Gabriel Escobar, and welcome the agreement between their arrival in Brussels. We also welcome the meetings of the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels and we believe in the continuation of the dialogue “, said Nikolla.

Nikolla also conveyed to Ambassador Vukčević, Albania’s interest in the Albanians of the Presevo Valley, for their prosperity and the provision of their rights, in accordance with international obligations and norms and European legislation, greater involvement in social life. -Economic of Serbia, as well as for other issues such as passivation and deregistration of addresses, teaching and textbooks in Albanian language, use of national symbols, etc.

Nikola and Vukčević also talked about strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the Albanian Parliament and the National Assembly of Serbia, as well as expanding economic and trade cooperation in the field of tourism and other sectors.
