Nikola-Kurti meeting / Prime Minister of Kosovo: We are ready for dialogue, but Serbia is refusing

The Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Lindita Nikolla met with the Prime Minister Albin Kurti in Kosovo. During their conversation, Kurti and Nikolla also mentioned the issue of tensions in Northern Kosovo.
Kurti guaranteed that the decision was right and not a provocation, adding that Kosovo is ready for dialogue, but Serbia is refusing.
During the meeting with Prime Minister Kurti, Speaker Nikolla congratulated him on his task and success in realizing his vision for a better future for the citizens.
President Nikolla thanked the Prime Minister for the assistance provided by the state of Kosovo to Albania to cope with the consequences of the earthquake and for the latest assistance in extinguishing the fires.
Speaker Nikolla noted that the coordination of work and joint action with the Assembly of Kosovo will be one of the priorities of her duty as Speaker of the Assembly of Albania. She said that the new synergy should be used and started with concrete plans of meetings and agendas to have results for the citizens. She underlined that she will promote the excellent fraternal cooperation between the two governments and counterpart institutions of Albania and Kosovo. In order to build a more efficient mechanism for monitoring the implementation of projects and agreements between the two governments, the Interstate Commission that will monitor the progress of intergovernmental agreements will include, in addition to ministers, representatives of parliamentary committees.
Prime Minister Kurti congratulated Mrs. Nikolla for the election of the Speaker of the Assembly of Albania and agreed that intensification of cooperation is needed, because there are all possibilities to take the step as a nation.
Prime Minister Kurti underlined that the preparations for holding a joint meeting between the two governments should be accelerated.
The recent tensions in the north of Kosovo that started after the implementation of the decision for equipment with temporary license plates for vehicles bearing Serbian license plates and entering the territory of the Republic of Kosovo were also discussed.
Prime Minister Kurti reiterated that the decision is fair and is neither provocation nor discrimination against anyone. There have been no incidents at any border crossing, while the Kosovo Police has been and is professional, correct and efficient, said the Prime Minister, adding that special units are there only to protect the border police and border crossings.
Regarding the current situation, the Prime Minister said that he is in constant contact with EU officials and QUINT ambassadors, and that Kosovo is ready for dialogue, but Serbia is refusing.
