10th Berlin Process Summit: Rama Meets with Top EU and Western Balkans Leaders

The 10th Berlin Process Summit takes place this Monday in Berlin, bringing together leaders from the Western Balkans and the EU. Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, alongside leaders from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosova, North Macedonia, and Serbia, are participating, as well as EU member states involved in the initiative, including Croatia.

Summit will focus on regional cooperation, the development of a common regional market, and the green agenda for the Western Balkans. A new action plan for regional market integration and an agreement to improve access to higher education will be signed.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will present the summit outcomes in a joint press conference.

About the Berlin Process

Launched in 2014 by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Berlin Process aims to integrate Western Balkan countries into the EU. It has gained importance as the EU seeks to counter growing Russian, Chinese, and Turkish influence in the region.

Notable achievements include agreements on regional economic cooperation, visa-free travel, and mutual diploma recognition. The initiative has also led to the creation of the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) and the Western Balkans Investment Forum.

The summit will emphasize regional reforms, economic collaboration, and connectivity.
