Spiropali Met Konjufca: No New Regional Chapters Without Addressing the Past

Assembly Speaker Elisa Spiropali met with her Kosovan counterpart, Glauk Konjufca, to discuss enhancing cooperation between their parliaments and nations.

During the meeting, Konjufca highlighted the importance of mutual support for their European integration efforts and stressed that Kosova needs Albania’s backing in the international arena against Serbia’s hostility toward Kosova’s independence. He noted that Spiropali’s visit to Kosova reflects her commitment to strengthening the cooperation between their countries. Konjufca also emphasized that their assemblies should work together to align their institutions and that their relationship transcends mere state relations, considering it a mutual bond.

Konjufca also remarked on the historical connection between the two states, pointing out that Kosova emerged from Albania’s incomplete state, which Kosovan Albanians fought to establish. He praised Albania’s crucial role in Kosova’s independence and expressed the need for both states to leverage their joint awareness to support each other’s integration processes.

In response to past events, Spiropali condemned the violent attacks on Kosovan police, KFOR, and media representatives in the north. She underscored the necessity for those responsible to be held accountable and stated that Albania firmly condemns these attacks. Spiropali emphasized that a stable future cannot be built without addressing the painful chapters of the past.
