On the 89th anniversary of Ismail Kadare’s birth, President Bajram Begaj paid tribute to the renowned Albanian writer, who passed away in 2024. The President highlighted Kadare’s profound impact on world literature, emphasizing his role in showcasing Albania’s rich history and culture.

“Kadare will live on through his works, sharing the story of Albania and its people’s struggles, pride, and vitality,” Begaj stated. Kadare’s works, translated into over 45 languages, have earned him global recognition and prestigious awards, including the Man Booker Prize and the Prince of Asturias Award.

Born in Gjirokastër in 1936, Kadare’s contributions to literature have earned him high honors, including Albania’s “Honor of the Nation” and France’s “Legion of Honor.” His legacy continues to inspire readers worldwide.
