The National Library of Albania opened the exhibition “In Memoriam 1901–1975” to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Ernest Koliqi’s passing. The exhibition highlights his literary, journalistic, and translation achievements, including early publications, essays, poetry, and works from the periodical “Shêjzat”.

Born in Shkodër in 1903, Koliqi was a renowned writer and intellectual. Despite controversy over his political roles during the Italian occupation, his works, such as “Hija e Maleve” and “Tregtarë Flamujsh”, are pillars of Albanian literature.

After World War II, Koliqi lived in Rome, where he led the “Shêjzat” journal and the Albanian Language Department, laying the foundation for the Institute of Albanian Studies. He translated “Lahuta e Malcis” into Italian, introducing Albanian literature to the world. Koliqi passed away in Rome in 1975.
