The National Center for Books and Reading organized a special event honoring the 100th anniversary of the birth of the distinguished figure Petër Prifti.

Eleni Karamitri, author of a monograph on Prifti, highlighted his significant contributions, particularly in the Albanian diaspora in the United States, where he lived and worked. Petër Prifti was celebrated as a cultural beacon and ambassador, alongside prominent figures like Fan Noli and Father Arthur Liolin.

Most of Prifti’s works, spanning philosophy, linguistics, literature, and history, were written in English, yet many were inspired by themes from his homeland.

Professor Xhevat Lloshi praised Prifti’s contributions to linguistics and literary studies, emphasizing his role in conceptualizing standard Albanian in a pivotal study. According to participants, Petër Prifti epitomized the ideal scholar of Albanian studies, both in America and globally.

Moreover, he was a distinguished patriot, not merely in words but through his research, which was supported by the Albanian-American patriotic association Vatra and its publication, Dielli.
