Renowned ballerina Zoica Haxho has passed away at the age of 91, leaving behind an unparalleled legacy in the world of Albanian ballet.  

Born on March 28, 1933, she was a trailblazer who shaped and elevated Albanian ballet to new heights, becoming one of its most cherished pioneers.  

Zoica’s passion for dance emerged at a young age. Fueled by determination, she pursued her dream, studying in the Soviet Union during the 1950s to refine her craft.  

Upon her return, she became the soul of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet (TKOB), dazzling audiences as the prima ballerina for over three decades. Her debut performance in 1957 as Lisa in *La Fille Mal Gardée* marked the beginning of an illustrious career.  

Throughout her journey, she brought to life a series of unforgettable roles, including Lola, Fadeta, Hajria, Cuca, Nica, Rina, and Delina. With unmatched elegance, finesse, and emotional depth, Zoica infused each character with a unique spirit, leaving an indelible mark on Albanian culture.  

Her legacy includes 20 premieres in which she excelled, a testament to her artistry and dedication. As a devoted mentor, she inspired countless generations of dancers, ensuring her passion and vision lived on through her students.  

Zoica was honored with prestigious titles, symbolizing her profound contribution to the arts. Yet, her true legacy lies in the hearts of those who watched her perform and those privileged to work alongside her.
