Professor Associate Dr. Edmond Buharaja, the esteemed composer, scholar, and head of the KMDP Department at the Faculty of Music, has passed away.

He was recognized as a scholar and composer of significant influence. His extensive body of research and highly regarded publications will serve as a lasting legacy for future generations. His composition Symphonia Alpina with Interlude earned awards and accolades from notable figures in the international arts community.

Among his many contributions, his work on Schenkerian Analysis, focused on the organic interpretation of musical structures, received praise from respected scholars such as E. Pozzi, W. Drabkin, and S. Pasticci, who lauded his approach.

Buharaja’s impact extended across Albanian academic and cultural institutions, including the University of Arts in Tirana, the Academy of Sciences of Albania, the Albanological Institute of Pristina, and the University of Peja, where his contributions will be honored and remembered.

The University of Arts shared a message of condolence, remembering him as a kind, fair, and supportive individual, valued for his wisdom and guidance. His legacy as a mentor and friend will endure through the many lives he touched.
