Today, the world of dramatic art commemorates one of its most notable figures, Loro Kovaçi, who passed away on July 16, 1966, in Tirana. He was beloved by the public and garnered numerous accolades throughout his career.

Loro Kovaçi was born on August 30, 1903, in Shkodër. After completing his basic education in his hometown, he went to Austria to study tailoring, which later aided him in his profession as an actor.

He reached the height of his career in the 1950s, showcasing his artistic talents even before World War II.

After the liberation, Loro Kovaçi became part of the professional troupe of the People’s Theatre, and his career flourished due to his performances in many significant roles. With the People’s Theatre, he interpreted over 70 important roles.

Some of his best-known interpretations were in works such as “The Girl with the Thick Hair”, “Besa”, “The Voice of America”, “In the Storm”, “The Inspector General”, “Othello”, “Intrigue and Love”, among many others. In cinema, he made significant contributions to films like “Her Children”, “Debatik”, “The Storm”, “Special Duty”, and others. However, he is perhaps most remembered for his portrayal of Tuç Makut in the film “Our Land” directed by Hysen Hakani, alongside other renowned names in Albanian cinematography such as Mario Ashiku, Marie Logoreci, Roza Anagnosti, and Vangjel Heba.
