On May 16, 1999, under still unclear circumstances, Ukshin Hoti disappeared.

A prominent figure in the National Movement, Professor Ukshin Hoti was born on June 17, 1943, in Krusha e Madhe, Rahovecof Kosova. He was a professor, writer, philosopher, scholar, patriot, and distinguished activist for the national cause during the years 1981-1999.

Ukshin Hoti also lectured at several universities in the US, where he studied and graduated.

For his patriotic activity, he was arrested several times by the Yugoslav regimes of Tito and Milosevic. He was last arrested in 1994 by the Serbian police on charges of hostile activity against Yugoslavia and his participation in the movement for the Republic of Kosova, and was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

On May 16, 1999, after being released from the Dubrava prison, he disappeared without a trace.

Fellow inmates, those who survived the Dubrava massacre, have stated that Ukshin (Hoti) was released from prison on May 16, Sunday, a day when prisoner releases were not customary.

Since then, and until now, the great figure of the Albanian national cause, the magistrate, philosopher, writer, journalist, dedicated patriot, Ukshin Hoti is still considered as missing.
