RTSH Korça commemorated one of the icons of the National Theatre, among the first actresses, who excelled both in comedy and drama, both on stage and in cinema, Violeta Manushi.

She was born on March 6, 1926, in Voskopoja, Korça, and passed away on July 27, 2007, in Tirana.

Violeta Manushi never married. She never complained and never boasted. Maybe that’s one of the reasons that everyone loved her, not only art lovers, but all the colleagues. They appreciated her. They appreciated every little detail about the concept, and the way she threw herself into each role, embodying the character and then becoming the character she played.

Violeta Manushi numbered a 60-year career and was one of the corner stores of the theater. She carved and sculpted 110 roles on stage and another 16 one in cinema. It was the year 1957 in “Kremlin Clocks”, the first record she would break by interpreting of three roles in one play.

Then she would shine in the protagonist roles in 1959 “Merry Women”, “The moral madam Dulska”, 1958. With great success, an unforgettable Olimbai in “Carnavals of Korca” 1964, Zyhrana in “The Second Face” 1968, Old Nica in “General of the Dead Army ” 1971, Ollga in “Lady from the City” (1975) and Teto in “Building 176” (1985), being completely transformed in each of the roles.

24 hours before she closed her eyes, Violeta Manushi, in the presence of relatives, registered her last words, which remains a sacred value in the archive of the “Nermin Vlora” Foundation. “As you can see, I have set out on a journey that is not long. I’m not sorry I’m going. I lived 81 over years. Moreover, I lived with honor! We were poor, but we did not beg. We lived with work and honor, leaving behind the good name. Come kiss me, because I’m leaving…“
