On November 12, 1987, the poet Llazar Gusho, known as Lasgush Poradeci, passed away, symbolically parting ways with the flag of the boat in his poem.

Born into the Gusho family on December 27, 1899, in Pogradec, he was given the name Llazar, though he would achieve immortality through his pen name, Lasgush Poradeci. At the age of 10, he began attending classes in Manastir before moving to Athens, where he completed high school. In 1921, he journeyed to Romania to pursue higher education. In Bucharest, he actively joined the patriotic movement of the Albanian colony and was entrusted with the role of General Secretary.

Poradeci’s poetic oeuvre forms a triptych, celebrating freedom, love, and the lake. In 1933, the poet published his first volume, ‘Dance of the Stars,’ followed by the release of the subsequent volume, ‘The star of the heart,’ in 1937. Noteworthy among his works are poems such as ‘Theological Excursion of Socrates,’ ‘Above them,’ and ‘Kamadeva.’ In addition to his original works, Poradeci translated masterpieces from world literature, including Pushkin’s ‘Eugene Onegin,’ the verses of Lermontov, Blok, Heine, Mayakovsky, Mickiewicz, Goethe, and others.

Poradeci’s poems, including ‘The Rites of My Years,’ ‘Wind of North,’ ‘Mother Spoke with Lamentation,’ ‘Mourning the Poet,’ ‘Source of Our Village,’ and ‘Who Forgives the Beauty,’ have been etched into the pentagram for Albanian artists. On this occasion, the General Directorate of Archives made public the invitation extended to Poradeci by the Institute of Linguistics and Literature of the University of Tirana to participate in the Congress of Spelling, along with the certificate issued to him as a delegate of the Congress, bearing serial number 54.
