Aleksandër Meksi is an outstanding engineer, art historian, and professor affiliated with both the Institute of Cultural Monuments and the Institute of Archaeology. He is renowned for his work as an evaluator, researcher, and restorer of architectural heritage (mainly churches and mosques monuments).

He completed his university studies in the field of Construction at the Faculty of Engineering of the State University of Tirana from 1955 to 1959. Between 1962 and 1987, he worked at the Institute of Cultural Monuments. In 1965, he pursued specialization at the ‘Scuola di perfezionamento per lo studio e il restauro dei monumenti’ at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Rome. During the academic years 1974 to 1977, he taught the History of Architecture course at the Department of Construction at the University of Tirana. In the school year 1989-1990, he served as a lecturer for two subjects (exercises and seminars – in the first semester) at the University of Marburg. His extensive research and restoration work is evident in numerous articles and monographs, both as a sole author and co-author. He holds the academic degrees of Candidate of Sciences (1982) and Doctor of Sciences (1988), as well as the title of Professor (1995). Throughout his career as an architectural historian, he conducted both specialized and comprehensive studies on religious monuments, authoring a series of monographs such as ‘Medieval Architecture in Albania,’ ‘Restoration of Architectural Monuments,’ ‘Architecture of the Churches of Albania c. VII-XV,’ and ‘Architecture of the Mosques of Albania – Centuries XV-XIX.’ Additionally, he played a key role as a co-author in significant works like ‘History of Architecture in Albania’ and ‘Berati – History and Architecture.’ Moreover, he is credited as the author of numerous restoration projects and has led and provided consultation for restoration efforts in several religious monuments.

During this period, alongside his scientific publications, he authored numerous scientific articles, monographs, and journalistic writings spanning the fields of politics and culture.
