The well-known actress of the Albanian stage, Margarita Xhepa, celebrates her 89th birthday today.

Prime Minister Edi Rama congratulated actress Xhepa on her birthday today in a post on social networks.

Actress Margarita Xhepa was born on April 2, 1934. She was first active in the State Theater and then in the People’s Theater. She stood out in the constellation of time through the interpretation of the role of Ophelia in the Shakespearean tragedy “Hamlet”, staged in 1960 by the Russian director Bortko.

On the stage of the theater, Xhepa has played over 150 roles, among which we highlight: Lady Milford in the drama “Love intrigue” (F. Shiler), Mela in the drama “The morals of Mrs. Dulska” (G. Zapolska), Dafina in the dramatization of the novel “Dead River” (J. Xoxa) and the mother in the staging of Kadare’s novel, “Who brought Doruntina”.

In 2007, she was awarded the “Career Award” for the role of Nadezhna in the monodrama “Swan Song” by Chekhov. In addition to the theater, Xhepa has appeared on the film screen with a diverse gallery of 31 roles. Some of the characters she played neatly are Zyraka in “Firs years” (1965), Shano in “The Last Winter” (1976), the pianist in “Concert in 1936 (1978) and Lena in “Bloody Earth” (1976).
