Pjetër Gaci, the composer, violinist and teacher of classical music, would celebrate his 92nd birthday.

Pjetër Gaci was born in the village of Shtiraj in the district of Shkodra, on March 27, 1931. He was a lecturer at the Artistic Lyceum and then at the Higher Institute of Arts. He started his artistic career as a violinist and became the founder of Albanian violin music. He reached the peak with the composition of the song, as in “Për ty atdhe”(For My Homeland) and “Gryka e Kaçaniku”(Kaçaniku’s mouth).

In 1967, he became the director of Tirana’s Veriety Show and the city’s Puppet Theatre. In 1970, he became a freelance composer and after 1976 he finally settled in Shkodra, where, in addition to composing, he also took care of the violin class at the “Prenk Jakova” artistic high school of this city. He has merit in having composed the first concerto for violin in the history of Albanian music, the first ballad for violin and piano, as well as being a member of the first instrumental trio (next to TOB, 1956).

The main trend in his creativity will remain vocal music, in which he has left unforgettable examples of works from song to opera, such as the opera “Our Earth”, “Beyond the Fog”, the cantata “O moj Shqipni, e mjera Shqipni” “(O my Albania, poor Albania”), “For My Homeland”.

In 1989, Pjetër Gaci was awarded the title “People’s Artist”.
