The well-known actor Roland Trebicka, an icon of Albanian theater and cinema, would celebrate the 75th anniversary of his birth today. He passed away 10 years ago.

The actor best known as “Jovan Bregu”, due to his role in the comedy “Pallati 176” continues to remain in the memory of art lovers for the interpretation that made him famous.

Roland Trebicka was born in Korça on January 13, 1947. His career as an actor began with the role of Kostas, in the film “Debatik”, in 1961. Perhaps, this is where his future was decided. The spontaneous humor, which originated even in the most difficult moments, stood out during his military service, where he served as an actor in the professional Variety Show of the Central House of the People’s Army, known as “Soldier’s Estrada”.

The years in this professional troupe were for Trebicka the necessary internship, which then paved the way to the People’s Theatre, today the National Theatre. He became a member of the National Theater troupe in 1971 and worked there until 1999. After a three-year experience with the “Publimedia” company, he returned to the National Theater. In his artistic life, he reached the peak of public success with the role of Jovan Bregu in the comedy “Pallati 176”.

But the roles of the actor Roland Trebicka in the theater are many. Viewers remember him with nostalgia in the roles of Xhenarino in “The Great Magic”, Zganareli in “Don Juan”, Hlestakov in “The Inspector”, “The Auditor” in “A man with a rose”, “We all sang Margarita”, “Dinner of fools”, “It’s snowing outside”, “Stewardesses”, Count Almaviva “The Barber of Seville”, Vincent “All gone”, “An absurd picture”, “Dream of Ismail Qemali” etc. In 2002, for the role of the Guard in “The King is Dying”, Trebicka was nominated for the “Best Supporting Actor” Award at the International Experimental Theater Festival, Cairo.

He also played in several films, among which it is worth mentioning “Dream of a chair” (Vaska) and “Concert in 1936” (Nesti). For his contribution to the stage, he has been honored with the titles “Merited Artist”, “Great Master” and recently the Korça municipality granted him the title “Honor of the City”.
