Miroslav Lajcak, the EU Special Representative for the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, stated that the European Union is committed to its enlargement strategy. In a recent Facebook post, he revealed that this is his final week in office, reflecting on his tenure and the importance of dialogue in today’s world.

Lajcak shared his experiences from the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he discussed pressing global issues such as geopolitical stability and economic growth. He stressed that dialogue remains more critical than ever, especially in the current geopolitical climate.

“I had the chance to engage with leaders from the Balkans and participate in the region’s traditional Diplomacy Dialogue. I emphasized that the EU is serious about enlargement, but it will not happen automatically. I urged the region to stay on track,” Lajčak wrote.

As he prepares for the final stages of his nearly five-year term, Lajcak mentioned that the remaining days will be dedicated to final briefings and the transition process. His successor, Danish diplomat Peter Sorensen, has been confirmed by EU ambassadors to take over as Special Representative for the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue.
