80 Years Since Auschwitz Liberation: A Day of Reflection and Remembrance

Today, the official ceremony is held to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz camp, attended by approximately fifty survivors and 54 international delegations, including the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani.
During the ceremony, in remembrance of the Holocaust victims, the participants will hear poignant testimonies from two survivors of the Auschwitz camp, recalling one of the darkest chapters in human history.
The Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp became a symbol of the genocide perpetrated by Nazi Germany against 6 million European Jews, one million of whom died between 1940 and 1945, along with more than 100,000 non-Jews.
In 2005, the United Nations declared January 27 as International Holocaust Remembrance Day, to honor the victims and encourage the world to commit to preventing such atrocities from recurring.
