Kosovan President Osmani Meets with European Council President Costa Ahead of EU-Western Balkans Summit

President of the Republic of Kosova, Vjosa Osmani, met with European Council President Antonio Costa in Brussels ahead of the EU-Western Balkans Summit. Their discussions focused on security developments, including the recent terrorist attack targeting Kosova’s critical infrastructure.
President Osmani congratulated Costa on his new role, expressing optimism for continued collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
“President Osmani addressed security challenges, including the recent attack on Kosova’s vital infrastructure, which aimed to deprive many citizens of water, electricity, heating, and telecommunications. She presented evidence linking Serbia to this attack and to the aggression against Kosova in September last year. She noted that Radojcic, the lead perpetrator acting under orders from Belgrade, remains at large—underscoring Serbia’s failure to take responsibility for its actions,” stated the official communication.
Osmani reaffirmed Kosova’s readiness to collaborate with international partners in investigating the terrorist act, expressing gratitude to the EU, the U.S., NATO member states, and other allies for their solidarity and support. She stressed the importance of collective efforts not only to investigate but also to prevent similar attacks in the future.
“Ensuring stability in the Western Balkans requires unified efforts to counter threats to peace and security,” Osmani emphasized.
The president also reiterated Kosova’s commitment to European integration, seeking support for advancing its EU candidate status. She argued that lifting restrictive measures would send a strong signal of encouragement, allowing Kosova to contribute more effectively to the shared values and vision of the European Union. Osmani criticized these measures as unjust, highlighting their detrimental impact on Kosova’s people and the principles of balance and neutrality in the Kosova-Serbia dialogue.
