Kosova’s Foreign Minister Donika Gërvalla has emphasized the importance of Ukraine’s victory over Russia, warning that “any compromise solution is a recipe for future wars in the Baltics, Poland, or the Western Balkans“.

Gërvalla made these remarks at the Democracy Forum in Lithuania, themed “Solidarity and Support Among Democracies: Essential for Triumph Over Autocracies,” held in Vilnius, where she attended at the invitation of her Lithuanian counterpart, Gabrielius Landsbergis.

“Faith in democracy, solidarity among democrats, and a clear approach to supporting and deterring aggressors are key elements to securing Europe’s democratic future and curbing the spread of extremism and populism, which could threaten this continent’s democratic path,” Gërvalla stated.

In her address, Gërvalla highlighted the need for Ukraine to prevail against Russian aggression, cautioning against the risks of any potential compromise.

“Any compromise solution is a recipe for the next war in the Baltics, Poland, or the Western Balkans, where we have a representative of Putin and Russia who attacked my country last September, using the same rhetoric, Putin’s playbook, the same language Putin has used in Ukraine,” Gërvalla said, referring to the September 23, 2023 terrorist attack in Banjska, in which a Kosovan police officer was killed.
