Miroslav Lajcak, the European Union’s envoy for Kosova-Serbia dialogue emphasized that the issue of opening the Ibër Bridge should be resolved through the Prishtina-Belgrade dialogue.

In a post on social media platform, Lajack dismissed claims that the EU opposes the opening of the Ibër Bridge as misleading.

“The EU has consistently stated that the Mitrovica bridge issue should be addressed in the EU-facilitated Dialogue. Assertions that the EU is against the bridge’s opening or has changed its stance are misleading,” Lajčak wrote.

He further noted that the Ibër Bridge issue and the implementation of the agreement will be key topics at the upcoming Brussels meeting.

Lajcak emphasized that imposing decisions against the will of affected citizens does not aid in normalizing relations.

“Good governance acknowledges the sensitivities of minorities. We will discuss the implementation of the bridge agreement at our next meeting in Brussels,” Lajcak added.
