Post Offices Closure in North of Kosova, U.S.: Concerned about Continuing Uncoordinated Decisions

The closure of nine post offices in the north of Kosovo has caused dissatisfaction not only in Serbia, but also in the United States. The State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller has expressed concern about the uncoordinated decisions of Kosova Government.

According to him, these decisions jeopardize the opportunities created for Kosova with the help of the US.

“What I will say is we are concerned by the continuing uncoordinated decisions by the leadership of Kosova. We believe they put at risk the opportunities that we have helped Kosova create,” said Miller.

The latter advised Kosova to return to constructive engagement with international allies.

“What we would encourage the Government of Kosova to do is to return to close and constructive engagement with the United States, with the EU, with NATO and Kosova’s other close international partners. As I’m making this clear publicly, we’ve made that clear privately to the government as well,” said the US State Department spokesperson.

Among other things, Miller also mentioned the support Kosova has had from the US in the state building process.

“If you look at the events since Kosova’s independence, the US has strongly supported its full integration into the international community as a sovereign multi-ethnic democracy. But, to realize this vision, we have collaborated with successful political leaders of Kosova in measures that have strengthened peace and prosperity in the country while advancing Kosova on the Euro-Atlantic path,” Miller stated.
